In this segment of our week 4 discussion threads we’re talking and learning about elections.  This is very good timing since we just had the country’s most recent presidential election only a few months ago. This week we’ll discuss and learn in depth about the presidential election process and we’ll learn about state and local election processes as well. Here are our first questions for this segment:

How would you define and explain what’s a single member district and proportional representation?When it comes to representation, how effective is our election system – elections for not just the President, but even more so for Congress – the House of Representatives and the Senate in representing the interest and needs of the people?
